Boutinot Sun & Air Cinsault
Bright, brisk and breezy, Sun & Air celebrates the Cape's maritime Atlantic climate and the ancient heritage of its cool, coastal vineyards. The very subtle play on words (it could also be heard as Son & Heir) also refers to the handing down of vineyards through generations. Handpicked from 40 year old, non-irrigated bush vine vineyards located in Paarl, Cinsault is the Cape's favourite red grape with its abundance of soft, brambly fruit and twist of dark, exotic spice. Paarl is one of South Africa's most famous wine producing areas. Located 60km inland from Cape Town and just north of Stellenbosch, it is home to some of the Western Cape's best known wineries. Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cinsault are all important grape varieties in the region. Boutinot has championed this grape variety on its own for many years before its current fashionable status, and nobody is more delighted than Boutinot that Cinsault is such a bright star in South Africa modern firmament. Crushed for flavour not colour, this wine sucks only from the rocks underground. Pairing: Delicious slightly chilled, this Cinsault's bright, earthy notes and acidity marries beautifully with Asian duck dishes, pork belly, stir-fried beef and carpaccio of tuna, beef or game.
